Pakistan's single-country exhibition in Delhi will open new vistas for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.
This was stated by Sheikh Maqbool Ahmed, Vice-President and leader of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) trade delegation to India, on his return along with some members of the delegation.
He said that Pakistan's single-country exhibition in Delhi will go a long way in intensifying the interaction between the business communities of the two countries.
He said that the chambers of both countries would actively facilitate all endeavours in improving the trade relations.
The vice president said the conferences held on the subjects of Safta and India-Pakistan economic relations have encompassed many significant issues, which need active consideration.
He said that the main issue discussed during his visit to India was to identify the products and services that the Indian and Pakistani businessmen can supplement each other keeping the areas of commonality in mind.
Maqbool said that sectors such as tourism, entertainment, tea, textile and pharmaceuticals could be considered for building synergies between the two countries.
The FPCCI Vice President said that the success of Pakistan's single-country exhibition in Delhi has greatly encouraged Pakistani manufacturers and exporters.
The exhibition has provided opportunities to Pakistani businessmen to show that their products are by all means competitive and have a great demand in India which is a large market.
Maqbool stressed that the changing essence of globalisation calls for production of best quality goods and services, which are provided at competitive prices to capture the international potential markets like India.
He said that factors such as geographical proximity, socio-cultural similarities, and common economic targets are the main advantages for both countries.
He said that both national chambers should combine their efforts and resources for exploring the hidden areas of similarity and joint ventures.
Maqbool said that Safta, if effectively implemented, would bring about revolutionary changes in the economics of the member states through generating employment, reducing poverty and bringing in peace and prosperity.
He expressed satisfaction on the massive response received from the Indian visitors who thronged the 75 stalls put up in the Pakistan exhibition.
He denied the news item published in a section of the press that Pakistan trade delegation was not given proper protocol in Delhi, and termed the news as baseless and discouraging to businessmen of both countries, particularly to the FPCCI which made great efforts in organising the first ever 'Made in Pakistan' exhibition in Delhi.
He said all exhibitors and members of trade delegations expressed their full satisfaction on the excellent arrangements made for the exhibition and conferences.
He said that the President of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry extended maximum support and help in organising the exhibition.
