The District Administration of Rawalpindi has decided to stop the traffic on double road and its adjacent road leading towards Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from March 14 to 16, to make sure the security of the cricketers during the March 16 One day International (ODI) between Pakistan and India.
These decisions were made in a high level meeting of the District Administration held in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
The meeting was presided over by District Nazim, Raja Tariq Mehboob Kiani and attended by District Co-ordination Officer, Hamid Ali Khan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Rawalpindi, Chaudhry Iftikhar Ahmed, District Police Officer (DPO), Syed Murawat Ali Shah and other concerned officials.
It was decided that no person without entry pass of Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) or any other organisation would be allowed to enter into the security zone until he display the permission pass issued by SP Special Branch.
Speaking on the occasion district nazim said that on March 14 to 16 no vehicular traffic and pedestrians would be allowed on the stadium road.
"This region will remain no entry zone until the end of the cricket match and no one would be allowed to enter this zone without ticket", he said and added that people having entry passes must get the security clearance.
He said that radio, transistor, mobile phone, bottle or any other device would not be allowed in the stadium. Women would not be allowed to enter in the security zone with their handbags.
The meeting decided that no sale of edible items would be allowed in and outside the cricket stadium and everyone irrespective of position would have to go through the security check.
No but VVIP vehicles would be allowed to enter into no entry zone on March 16. He has asked the PCB officials to complete the sale process of the tickets before March 14.
The District Police Officer, Syed Murawat Ali Shah briefed in the meeting about the security arrangements.
He assured that foolproof security arrangements had been made and complete security would be provided to cricketers and VVIP guests.
