multansMULTAN: The newly elected body of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) led by its president Mian Anis Ahmad Sheikh took charge of the MCCI here on Saturday for year 2011-12.

Newly elected president Mian Anis Ahmad Sheikh and senior vice president Khawaja Mohammad Hussain were elected unopposed.

Mian Anis donated Rs 100,000 and Khawaja Mohammad Hussain deposited Rs 50,000 to the MCCI account to enable the chamber work more effectively.

While addressing the annual general meeting of the MCCI, Mian Anis said that he would continue to work for the promotion of industry in south Punjab and resolve problems of traders and industrialists.

Khawaja Mohammad Hussain promised to use the MCCI platform to accelerate industrial and trade activities in south Punjab.

He said that MCCI was extending full cooperation to USAID Pakistan under USAID Trade and USAID Jobs initiatives and added that the USAID trade project was helping exporters and importers in a big way.

He said that help desks of Smeda, AHAN, Tevta and State Bank of Pakistan had also been set up at the MCCI to enable members avail their facilities.
