Health experts have warned people to abstain from eating mutton and beef in excessive quantity on the occasion of Eid ul Azha, as it may lead towards problem of gastro-enteritis, ulcer, skin allergy, hypertension, acidity, joint pains and other health problems.
Experts maintain that meat of sacrificial animals should be used at least six hours after the sacrifice.
The use of beef or mutton immediately after sacrifice is harmful for health, as blood remaining in the meat and beef causes health problems.
Averring further, experts told Business Recorder here on Saturday that meat of sacrificial animals should be washed with fresh water and the cooking should be done after boiling it, so that all unnecessary fats are removed. The use of lemon on the cooked meat is advisable, but it must be taken in limited quantity.
Those facing problem of hypertension and diabetes must avoid meat because it can aggravate their disease.
Professor of Medicine Professor Dr Humayun Maqsood, Dr Mohiuddin and Captain Niaz Ahmad were of the opinion that use of half cooked meat could cause cancer, apart from other diseases.
The use of meat of those animals facing diseases could also leave negative effects on the health, the experts said and added that excessive consumption of meat increase the acidity level, leading towards joint pains.
Meanwhile, sources in the provincial health department said that special arrangements have been made at different hospitals to provide necessary treatment facilities to those facing any problem during Eid days. Special duties have been assigned to doctors and para-medical staff.
Moreover, the sale of sacrificial animals could not gain momentum in the local market.
The main reason of lack of interest on the part of buyers is high prices of animals.
