Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians at district and provincial levels celebrated the 76th birth anniversary of party founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on Monday.
Party's central and provincial office-bearers cut cakes at provincial and metropolitan offices and addressed the party activists, highlighting the struggle of Z A Bhutto and his political philosophies.
The leaders, while paying tributes to Bhutto for his services for democracy, constitution and making Pakistan an atomic power, vowed to continue their struggle while following footsteps of their leader.
Addressing the workers here at party Punjab office at Faisal Town, vice-chairman PPP-Parliamentarians, Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the present government, with reference to South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) summit, is now following the policies of late Bhutto and former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto as they, in their democratic regimes had worked on the same ideas of bringing the South Asian nations closer and reducing tension in the region.
He said that Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) would neither accept LFO nor 17th Amendment Bill.
"PPP-Parliamentarians after coming into power in new elections, would undo LFO and 17th Amendment Bill with more than two-third majority as it is against the will of 140 million people of Pakistan," he said.
He said ARD leadership would have to change their policy inside and outside the Parliament regarding prevailing political situation.
Gilani urged Pakistani leadership to resolve core issue of Kashmir with India during Saarc summit, as this burning issue had caused the imbalance of power in South Asia.
PPP senior leader, Sheikh Rafique said that Pakistan People's Party is the most famous party of the people, as it gained maximum votes in previous elections.
PPP-Parliamentarians Punjab President and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, Qasim Zia, while addressing the party workers, said that the government is working on the same formula with India to solve Kashmir issue which was evolved by late Bhutto when Simla agreement was signed.
"In the past when PPP leadership adopted the same policy to resolve Kashmir issue with India, it was called traitor. However, now the present government is following same strategy which the PPP leadership had prepared," Qasim Zia alleged.
He vowed that PPP-Parliamentarians would continue its struggle against mullah-military alliance through ARD platform and Benazir Bhutto would become prime minister of Pakistan third time.
The party leaders, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Senator Dr Akbar Khawaja, PPP Lahore President, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman and Haji Aziz-ur-Rehman Chan also spoke.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People's Party Lahore chapter also cut cake at Lahore office.
Malik Hafeez, Naveed Chaudhry, Munawar Anjum and Iqbal Sialvi were also present.
Apart from the main ceremony at Lahore office, party leaders attended the birth anniversary celebrations at more than 100 places in city organised by party workers and zonal office-bearers.
