LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Saturday said education was the only fastest way to rapid development and his government had made promotion of education its top most priority.
He was talking to Minister of State on Education Baleegh-ur-Rehman, who called on him here.
The Chief Minister said revolutionary steps had been taken for promotion of quality education in the province. He said Daanish Schools equipped with the latest educational facilities had been established in backward areas.
The Daanish School System, he said, was helping in promotion of education and curbing the trend of extremism.
Besides education, the Chief Minister said free boarding and lodging facilities were also being provided to students in these schools.
He said about 150,000 brilliant students facing financial constraints were getting education through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund.
He said reforms programme in education sector was yielding positive results.
