Following the success of Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) another tournament ‘Pakistan Cup’ is set to start from Tuesday (April 19).
Just like Pakistan Super League, there will be also five teams representing the four provinces and federal capital of the country. The five teams from the five provinces - Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a team from Federal Capital of Pakistan. The PCB announced that Azhar Ali will lead Balochistan, Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq will lead Federal Capital, Younis Khan will lead Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shoaib Malik will captain Punjab and Sarfraz Ahmed will lead Sindh.
The ‘Pakistan Cup 2016’ is a new style of domestic cricket in Pakistan. Reportedly, Chairman Executive Committee PCB Mr. Najam Sethi pointed out that the tournament will help revive fan engagement in domestic cricket.
Each team will be able to select a squad of 15. The tournament will be played from 19th April till 1st May at Faisalabad.
