Former Pakistan cricketer Mohsin Khan will not appear before Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja if he is called by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for an interview for the position of the national team’s head-coach.
According to local media report, Mohsin Khan said, “I categorically state that I won’t be interviewed by my juniors; both cricketers in the committee started their careers towards the end of mine. If I apply I will address my application to the chairman only”.
The duo made their debuts at the time when Mohsin was retiring from cricket and the 61-year-old says he will not be answerable to his ‘juniors’.
Mohsin also advised the cricket board to consider local names for the position before going for foreign contenders. “I would advise the Board to stop looking at foreign coaches and repose faith in their local coaches,” he said.
PCB had appointed former Test cricketers Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja to help in finding the best possible coach for the national cricket team. Raja and Akram are members of a panel which has been appointed by the PCB to carry out the recruitment process for the position left vacant by Waqar Younis.
Earlier, former Head Coach Waqar Younis first apologized and then resigned after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in World Twenty20 2016 in India and Asia Cup 2016 in Bangladesh.
