imageWindows 10, the latest version of Microsoft Corp is now running in over 270 million devices, an impressive number, after launching just 8 months back said the Microsoft.

The remarkable figure was revealed by company’s executive Terry Myerson at Microsoft's annual gathering for developers, the Built 2016 in San Francisco. The numbers indicates a strong showing by the Windows 10 after the lukewarm reception of its predecessor, Windows 8.

According to Gadgets.NDTV, one of the key reasons behind its success is the company policy according to that the Windows 10, which was released in July last year, is free for individual consumers who download the product it during its first year. However, the conditions do not apply to the enterprise customers, which must pay for Windows 10.

However, Microsoft does not want to stop at the 270 million mark, as Myerson said before the launch of Windows 10 that the company aims for 1 billion active users within a few years.

By the current pace, the target seems all well in sight.
