QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has said that Balochistan is the backbone of Pakistan and development of the country is linked with the development of province.
"Balochistan is giving China Pakistan Economic Corridor, Gwadar and long coast to the country but regrettably it is denied its due coverage in the national mainstream media particularly the electronic channels," he said.
Chief Minister was addressing the seminar in connection with Media Day organized by Balochistan Information Department here.
Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz, Provincial Advisor for Information Raza Muhammad Barech, Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chattah, President Quetta Press Club Shahzada Zuliqar, media persons invited from other parts of the country and local journalists and writers attended the seminar.
Nawab Sanaullah Zehri said that appropriate coverage in national media is our due right and we deserve it as Balochistan contributes 45 per cent landmass of the entire country. "If Gwadar Port is developed, the investors of Punjab, Sindh and KPK would go there and it would benefit entire country."
He said that China is making investment of US$ 46 billion just because of Gwadar and its geopolitical importance.
"Those who are making hurdles in the of development of Balochistan would be considered as enemies, and no one would be allowed to target innocent people," he clarified. He said that Balochistan is full of natural potential if the only fertile lands of Kachhi are irrigated the province would be able to cater the need of wheat and rice of the country.
