PESHAWAR: Chairman Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao Saturday asked federal government to help resolve common issues being faced by the provinces.
Addressing a press conference after joining ceremony at Watan Kor, he said that conduct of fresh population census, transparent distribution of resources among provinces and ensuring of provincial autonomy were the main issues which needed keen focus from government side.
He maintained that the distribution of resources was directly related with the population of the provinces.
He said the government should not use delay tactics anymore and devise a comprehensive plan while using modern means of conducting surveys with the help of NADRA and other government institutions.
Aftab Sherpao said that time is ripe to revisit the constitution of the country in order to give more rights to the provinces.
Despite passing the 18th amendment the federal government has not yet provided dues share to the provinces he said.
Sherpao demanded Federal government should devolve BISP funds worth Rs. 70billion to the provinces so as to end grievances of smaller provinces.
Reiterating his partys stance on western route of CPEC, Aftab Sherpao said construction of this route was a matter of life and death for Pakhtuns. In order to make it happen, QWP will keep struggling until its completion he vowed.
On the occasion, Aftab Sherpao also asked federal government to revisit National Action Plan so as to get its required aims and objectives. He said that that pace of work on Fata reforms should be expedited in order to bring the militancy and terrorism-hit tribesmen into mainstream.
