LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said livestock and dairy development sector has a vast potential and development of this sector on solid basis can result in socio-economic development and creation of job opportunities.
He said immediate measures were needed for the promotion of livestock and dairy development sector so that full benefit could be taken from the potential in this sector and socio-economic development of rural population could be ensured.
He was addressing a meeting through video link at Civil Secretariat, on Wednesday, which considered various measures and proposals for the promotion of livestock and dairy development sector on solid foundations.
The Chief Minister said a majority of rural population of Punjab is linked with livestock and dairy development sector and there is a need to impart modern training to rural population so that production could be increased. He said in order to increase production of livestock, the program for skill development of rural population should effectively be implemented and no effort should be spared for achieving the desired results.
The Chief Minister directed that Livestock Department should continue free vaccination program for saving cattle from diseases as Punjab government was providing all out resources for this purpose.
Provincial Ministers Rana Sana Ullah, Dr.Farrukh Javed, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Hameeda Waheed ud Din, Special Assistant Arshad Jutt, Senator Saud Majeed, Chief Secretary, concerned Secretaries and senior officers attended the meeting.
