netflixMEXICO CITY: US video giant Netflix on Monday announced the launch of its television and movie streaming service to Latin America and the Caribbean.

The service started Monday in Brazil and would be made available in 43 countries and territories in the region over the next week, wrote Rochelle King, Netflix VP of User Experience and Design, in a company blog posting.

"By September 12, people throughout the Americas will be able to instantly watch a broad selection of movies and TV shows streaming from Netflix on computers, game consoles like the WII and PS3, and Smart TVs," the post said.

Netflix subscribers in the new countries will pay a monthly fee of around eight dollars for unlimited access to the company's streaming-video library.

Netflix expanded outside of the United States to Canada last September and currently has more than 25 million subscribers.
