BUREWALA: A surge in the Sutlej river submerged more than 100 localities along the riverine area near here on late Saturday. Standing crops on hundreds of acres were inundated in more than 100 localities, including Salara Rotar, Ghai Shah, Mongar Salar, Baloch, Rahim Shah, Budin Shah, Jheelan Wali, Haider Khan, and other localities.
On information, Assistant Commissioner Burewala Muhammad Attif Dar along with police, Rescue 1122 and officials of departments concerned reached the areas and started the rescue operation to evacuate the flood-hit people to save places. Boats of Rescue 1122 were also dispatched to the affected areas.
Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Atif Dar told the media that a central control room had been set up in Farooqabad while three relief camps each were working round-the-clock in Farooqabad, Sahu kay and Jimlara.
DPO Vehari Syed Ali Nasir visited a police relief camp and ordered policemen, rescue personnel and officials of the departments to provide all facilities to the affected people.
