HONG KONG: Shares in Shanghai broke a five-session winning streak Wednesday after data showing Chinese inflation eased in September compounded fears about the world's number two economy.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.93 percent, or 30.79 points, to 3,262.44 and the Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, fell 1.20 percent, or 22.96 points, to 1,884.16.
And in Hong Kong the Hang Seng Index ended 0.71 percent, or 160.55 points, down at 22,439.91.
