LONDON: European stock markets were stable at the start of trading on Friday as investors sat tight ahead of a key speech on the economy by US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke.
London's FTSE 100 index of leading shares edged up 0.13 percent to 5,137.75 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 index was flat at 5,582.50 points and in Paris the CAC 40 dipped 0.11 percent to 3,115.47 points.
