LONDON: Europe's main stock markets fell further at the start of trading on Tuesday but shares in mining giant Glencore recovered slightly from sharp losses a day earlier.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index dropped 0.90 percent to open at 5,905.27 points compared with Monday's close.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 shed 1.45 percent to 9,346.04 points and the Paris CAC 40 slid 1.37 percent to 4,297.19.
Indices had sunk on Monday as more disappointing Chinese economic data and downbeat analyst comment weighed on the mining sector, with London-listed Glencore closing down almost 30 percent.
Shares pulled back a little at the start of London trading on Tuesday, with Glencore up 5.92 percent at 72.68 pence.
