KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah apprising United States Consul General in Karachi, William Martin about losses caused by recent monsoon rains in lower Sindh said that rain has affected around one million people.
William Martin called on the Sindh CM at CM House here Monday, said a statement.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that recent heavy rain has caused massive devastation in six districts of Sindh including Badin, Tharparkar, Umer Kot, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Mirpurkhas.
He said that the rain has also done damage to roads and various buildings.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said the government is making all out efforts for rehabilitation and to provide relief to the affectees.
Different NGOs and international bodies have also launched relief operations in the rain-hit areas, he added.
The Sindh CM called upon the welfare organizations and philanthropists to cooperation in relief efforts.
William Martin assured the Sindh CM on behalf of his government for providing assistance for the rain affectees.
