HONG KONG: Hong Kong's stock market closed 2.06 percent lower on Wednesday after a credit downgrade of Tokyo by Moody's and profit-taking from two days of strong gains.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 408.74 points to close at 19,466.79 on turnover of HK$75.45 billion ($9.67 billion).
Shanghai fell 0.51 percent. The composite index, which covers both A and B shares, ended down 12.93 points at 2,541.09 on turnover of 70.7 billion yuan ($11.1 billion).
