SEOUL: South Korean stocks ended 1.23 percent lower on Wednesday, tumbling from a positive start, on news that ratings agency Moody's had downgraded Japan's sovereign debt rating.
The benchmark KOSPI index fell 21.90 points to close at 1,754.78.
