TOKYO: Tokyo stocks closed 1.22 percent higher on Tuesday following overnight gains on Wall Street, as the dollar held steady against the yen amid continued intervention threats from the government.
The benchmark Nikkei-225 index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 104.88 points higher at 8,733.01. The Topix index closed up 7.55 points, or 1.02 percent, at 750.39.
