ISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation for the week ended on June 11 for the lowest income group up to Rs 8,000 registered a nominal increase of 0.74 percent as compared to the previous week.
The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 205.58 points against 204.07 points registered in the previous week, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
Meanwhile, the SPI for the combined income group was also increased by 0.82 percent as it went up from 212.91 points in the previous week to 214.65 points in the week under review.
Similarly, as compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review increased by 1.15 percent.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups from Rs 8001-12,000, Rs 12,001-18,000 and 18,001-35,000 increased by 0.73 percent,0.76 percent, 0.81 percent and 0.88 percent respectively.
During the week under review average prices of 08 items registered decrease, while that of 23 items increase with the remaining 22 items' prices unchanged.
The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included pulse moong (washed), LPG cylinder (11kg), garlic, wheat, rice irri-6, vegetable ghee, cooking oil (tin) and rice basmati.
The items which recorded increase in their average prices included potatoes, cigarettes, pulse gram (washed), bananas, onions, eggs hen (arm), tomatoes, chicken farm (live), pulse mash (washed), tea, sugar, curd, pulse masoor, cooked beef, red chilly powder, long cloth, tea prepared, mustard oil, milk fresh, mutton, wheat flour and gur.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included bread plain, beef with bone, vegetable ghee (loose), milk powder, salt powder, cooked dal, shirting, lawn, gorgette, gents sandal, gents chapal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, fire wood, electric bulbs, washing soap, match box, hi-speed diesel, telephone local call and bath soap.
