SHANGHAI: China's benchmark stock index opened down 1.6 percent on Friday, hit by a broad fall in global markets, which sent Wall Street down 3.7 percent.
The Shanghai Composite Index fell to 2,519.6 points, after a 1.6 percent fall on Thursday when spooked investors sold off property-related stocks amid worries Beijing may take further steps to cool down red-hot housing prices.
