Cotton crop hit by rains feared failing target
ISLAMABAD: Sindh cotton crop has been severely hit by the rains giving rise to the fears that cotton production target for the current year would not be achieved.
Talking to a private news channel, Pakistan Cotton ginners Association's member executive committee, Ehsanul Huque said that the cotton crops in Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Mirpurkhas, Thatta and Gharo have been badly hit by the torrential rains and floods giving rise to the fears that the current year target of 15 million bales of cotton production would not be met.
Ehsanul Huque said that the cotton prices today recorded increase, Punjab cotton up by Rs100 selling at 6,600 per maund, while the Sindh cotton recording a rise of Rs50 stood at Rs6,250 per maund.
