london_stockLONDON: Shares rallied by as much as 1.8 percent in opening trade in London on Wednesday, boosted by gains elsewhere, after the US Federal Reserve pledged to keep interest rates near zero for two more years.

Stocks pulled back slightly after the open and at 0705 GMT the FTSE 100 index of leading companies stood at 5,235.23 points, up 1.35 percent.
