China July exports increase 20.4pc, surplus widens

china.exportsBEIJING: China's exports grew 20.4 percent in July from a year earlier, accelerating from 17.9 percent in June, the customs administration said on Wednesday.

Imports increased by 22.9 percent in last month over a year earlier, the General Administration of Customs said.

That left the country with a trade surplus of $31.5 billion in July, compared with $22.3 billion in June.

The median forecast of economists polled by Reuters was for exports to rise 17.4 percent and imports to grow 22.3

percent, resulting in a trade surplus of $27.5 billion.
