imageThe romantic yet so controversial movie ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ which has been dominating the US box-office this week, will not release in the UAE.

National Media Council, the body tasked with approving films in the UAE, said the decision to withhold the release was taken after some serious deliberation during the review screening, reported Gulf News.

According to reports, Juma Obaid Al Leem, director of the Media Content Tracking Department at the NMC said, “We already saw the movie and the company which imported the film decided from their side that this movie cannot be made into a montage because it contains many sex scenes”.

The UAE is not the only country where audiences won’t get to see the film. Reportedly, other countries that have banned 'Fifty Shades of Grey' includes Malaysia, Kenya and Indonesia, while distributors in China too have decided against releasing it.

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ sizzled at the US weekend box office becoming one of the highest-grossing movies of all time and ranking among the biggest R-rated debuts in history. The original ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ series by E.L James was one of the biggest and fastest selling books of all-time.
