european-stocksLONDON: European stock markets soared at the start of trading on Monday, as investors welcomed news of a last-minute deal to raise the US debt ceiling and avoid a disastrous default of the world's biggest economy.

London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top shares leapt 1.04 percent to 5,875.49 points, Frankfurt's DAX 30 won 1.34 percent to 7,234.50 points and in Paris the CAC 40 rallied 1.28 percent to 3,718.38.
