NOTTINGHAM: England off-spinner Graeme Swann was reprimanded for kicking the stumps during the second day of the second Test against India at Trent Bridge on Saturday.
Swann, whose 12 wicketless overs on his Nottinghamshire home ground cost 76 runs, lashed out in frustration at the end of the 80th over, shortly before England took the new ball with India 258 for four, and dislodged the bails.
He then immediately apologised to umpires Asad Rauf and Marais Erasmus.
Swann was punished by match referee Ranjan Madugalle after stumps for breaching article 2.1.2 of the International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct which relates to abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match.
Because the 32-year-old Swann accepted the charge there was no need for a disciplinary hearing.
England, 1-0 up in the four-match series, ended the day on 24 for one in their second innings, a deficit of 43 runs.
