NEW YORK: The US dollar climbed to a session high against the Swiss franc and Australian dollar in mid morning New York trade on Thursday as better-than-expected US economic data helped alleviate some concern on the approaching Aug. 2 US debt ceiling deadline.
The dollar rose to 0.80338 franc on electronic trading platform EBS, up 0.2 percent on the day though still close to the record low of 0.7990 touched earlier in the global trading day.
The Australian dollar fell to a session low of US$1.1000, still not far from the post-float high of $1.1081 touched this week.
