Sharmeela welcomes Ishrat ul Ebad as Sindh Governor

sharmila-farooqiISLAMABAD: Sharmeela Farooqui the senior leader of Pakistan People's Party, has welcomed the decision of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) on resuming the office by Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan.

Talking to Pakistan Television, Sharmeela Farooqui said that MQM decision would help strengthen democracy in the country.

She said that PPP had great respect for Dr.Ishrat ul Ebad Khan adding that he always played positive role in the politics of Pakistan.

Commending the role of President Asif Ali Zardari for talks with leadership of MQM Altaf Hussain on several issues including Governor ship, she said the decision of MQM for calling back Dr.Ishrat was definitely a good step which would strengthen democracy and the political system.

She expressed the hope that those persons who filed resignations during that period would sit with the government soon.

She urged all the political parties and stakeholders to brush aside differences and work for the welfare and progress of the people of the country.

Replying to a question on law and order situation in Karachi, she said that some elements from political parties had been allegedly involved in sabotaging peace of the metropolis.

To another question, Sharmeela Farooqui said that the government is responsible to maintain law and order across the country.

She asked all the political parties and stakeholders besides local community to cooperate with the government and law enforcing agencies to maintain peace and tranquility in the province.

The senior PPP leader said that keeping in view the current situation, there is a need to evolve a modern system for addressing the issues facing the common man in Karachi.

Sharmeela Farooqui said that there is also need to bring changes in the old system with the consensus of political parties and concerned stakeholders so that all the problems confronting the people of this province could be resolved without further delay.

Replying to another question, she said that meeting with prisoners is not against the constitutions.

She said violence free politics must be promoted at all cost.

She urged the political activists to promote tolerance and harmony while working for the party.
