imageISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday exhorted the newly passed out police officers to maintain close liaison with the public and resolve their problems on priority without any discrimination.

Addressing the 40th Passing-out ceremony of 20 Assistant Superintendents Police (ASPs) as chief guest, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan urged the officers to play their role in eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country.

He said the country was passing through a critical juncture and officers have to fulfill their responsibilities in providing serene and peaceful atmosphere to the countrymen.

The country needs dedicated police officers to play their role in improving the conditions of the country, he said adding that the people usually pose confidence on young police officers and they must not lose their confidence.

The minister appreciated the sacrifices rendered by the security personnel for the sake of the country.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan inspected the march past and distributed prizes among the outstanding police officers. The minister also distributed graduating certificates to Chief Inspectors of Maldives Police Ms Zulekha Rouzay and Abdulla Firushaan.

ASP Muhammad Maaz Zafar conferred the sword of honour. ASP Muhammad Ajmal won three awards including best in discipline, Physical Training, and in Parade. ASP Mehfooz Ghouri was awarded for best firing.

Earlier, Commandant National Police Academy IGP Fayaz Ahmed Leghari delivered welcome address. Senior serving and retired Police officers were present on the occasion.

He said the capacity building of law enforcers were being emphasised now a days. The graduated officers have been selected on merit by Federal Public Service Commission.

A total of 20 ASPs including four women officers and two officers from Maldives Police had underwent 18-month Specialized Training Programme.
