Gilani leaves on private visit to UK
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani who left Monday for London on five-day private visit, says he looks forward to meetings with British leaders.
He will meet Deputy Premier, Nick Clegg, (as Prime Minister David Cameron is on foreign visit) and Foreign Secretary William Hague to discuss ways to further expand ties, strategic partnership, economic relations and Pakistan’s role in fighting extremism, terrorism.
In a statement before leaving, Gilani said UK and Pakistan are close global partners and enhanced strategic dialogue initiated in April last reflects depth of their bilateral ties. He said both countries have multi-layered cooperation in defence, intelligence and counter insurgency.
Prime Minister drove to PIA’s commercial flight as ordinary passenger in coaster van without any protocol. In London he will attend graduation ceremony of his son Ali Qasim Gilani.
