Flood warning issued due to heavy rain in twin cities
ISLAMABAD: The administration has issued flood warning due to heavy rain in twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday morning.
The situation in Nala Lai is very critical and several houses have been inundated. Residents of Javed Colony and Muslim Colony have started migrating due to increasing water level in Nala Lai.
The administration has warned that the situation can turn severe, if rain continues.
The Director General of Metrological Department Arif Mehmood said that there was no flood threat as the intensity of rain had reduced.
Twin cities are also receiving heavy rains since early Saturday morning, where 74 ml of rain has been recorded in Islamabad, while 63 in Rawalpindi, met department said.
According to flood control center in Rawalpindi, water level raised at Katarian and Gawal Mandi point in Nala Lai at Saturday morning, however no flooding is expected.
Moreover, the upper parts of the country including areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa received heavy rains that turned weather pleasant, but immersed low lying areas.
Cloudy weather along with rain was recorded in the adjoining areas of Gilgit, Hunza and Attabad turning weather pleasant.
Other areas receiving rain and thunderstorm include Multan, Swat, Mingora and Dera Ismail Khan and theadjoining areas where rain lowered mercury, but sub merged the low areas.
