imageISLAMABAD: The Special Court trying former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf under high treason act of the Constitution for abrogating and subverting constitution by proclamation of emergency in the country on Thursday adjourned its hearing till September 16 (Tuesday).

The three-member Special Court bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab and comprising Justice Yawar Ali and Tahira Safdar resumed hearing of the high profile treason case in the Federal Shariat Court building.

Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Khalid Rasool head FIA Investigation Team, the last witness from the Prosecution recorded his statement before the bench.

Khalid Qureshi said that then D.G. FIA Saud Mirza on June 27, 2013, called him to his office and appointed him investigation officer of the probe.

Maqsoodul Hassan, Azam Khan and Hussain Asghar were the members of the investigation team and each officer was entrusted with separate task in the probe, he informed.

The first meeting of the probe over November 3 steps taken by Pervez Musharraf was held at the office of DG FIA, the witness said.

It was decided in the meeting that the repute of the important state institution will not be harmed, the probe officer Khalid Qureshi said.

The witness said that after his appointment as the inquiry officer, he had written letters to the Prime Minister House and other government departments for cooperation in the probe.

Pervez Musharraf imposed the November 3, 2007 emergency as Chief of Army Staff (COAS), the Head of the FIA probe team Khalid Qureshi informed the special court hearing the treason case.

Qureshi further said that Pervez Musharraf had issued the PCO affidavit as the president. He added that the FIA probe team had reached the conclusion that Musharraf was guilty of violating the constitution by suspending it.

Qureshi informed the court that he had visited Musharraf at his Chak Shahzad farmhouse on December 6, 2013 with Hussain Asghar another member of the FIA team. Musharraf's security advisor Colonel (retired) Ilyas was also present.

Qureshi said he showed Musharraf the November 3, 2007 emergency order, PCO and documents for the removal of judges which had his (Musharraf's) signatures. According to Qureshi, Musharraf refused to give his statement on these documents.

Qureshi informed the court that after hearing statements of numerous institutions, personalities and reviewing evidence, the probe team had come to the conclusion that Musharraf was responsible for these actions and should be held accountable.

The prosection witness completed his statement and the Defence Counsel would start cross-examination of the witness during the next hearing of the case.
