KARACHI: Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif Wednesday slammed chief coach Waqar Younis and spin coach Mushtaq for not handling Saeed Ajmal and exposing too much during series against Sri Lanka.
"To be fair, I think Saeed Ajmal should not have played at all in the 2-Test match series against Sri Lanka," he said in statement issued here.
He also blamed Pakistan late coach Bob Woolmer, Dav Whatmore and other coaches attached with the team for not handling Saeed Ajmal suspect action issue in his prime days.
"Pakistan coaching staff is like a United Nations. This was job of head coach, who charge heavily as his professional fee and Mushtaq Ahmed too. But they failed ," Rashid Latif commented.
He said both Waqar and Mushtaq are great players. But now another great Saqlain Mushtaq is coming to solve and resolve the issue of Saeed Ajmal," he commented.
"How PCB can justify the role of coaches attached with the team and now inviting Saqlain," he questioned.
Rashid Latif said Saeed Ajmal suspension is big blow for PCB and Pakistan cricket five months before the World Cup.
"Can Pakistan cricket survive this big blow," he concluded.
