NOTTINGHAM: England were 55 without loss off 7.4 overs against Sri Lanka, needing 120 more runs to reach their victory target of 175, when rain stopped play at 7.01pm local time (1801GMT) in the fourth one-day international at Trent Bridge here on Wednesday.
England captain Alastair Cook was 38 not out and Craig Kieswetter 17 not out.
A minimum of 20 overs must be bowled in England's innings for either side to have a chance of winning this match.
Sri Lanka lead the five-match series 2-1.
