OSLO: At least three people died late Monday when a leased helicopter crashed in the mountains near Bergen in western Norway, rescuers said, adding they feared the toll might be as high as five.
"We were told there were five people on board including the pilot. We are trying to check this out," said Hordaland police chief Geir Gudmunsen quoted by NTB news agency.
The accident occurred for unknown reasons in the Eidfjord district 100 kilometres (65 miles) east of Bergen, according to the Airlift leasing company that owned the helicopter.
