MOSCOW: The ruble slumped to a new record low of 37.3910 to the US dollar on Monday as tensions over the Ukraine crisis mounted further and the threat of new Western sanctions hung over Russia.
The ruble also slid to a five-month low of 49.0903 to the euro, but Russian stock markets were broadly stable, with the ruble-denominated MICEX index up 0.29 percent in early trading while the dollar-denominated RTS gave up 0.46 percent.
