imageKARACHI: Pakistan team repeatedly making basic mistakes which is the main cause of their debacle, former captain Wasim Bari said on Tuesday.

"If team players are not learning from their mistakes and not rectify them, how they can hope to improve," he told APP in a reaction to team's 77-run loss in the second One-Day International in Hambantota as hosts Sri Lanka square the 3-match series 1-1.

"How a team can win if their batsmen play 100 dot balls and bowlers concede 116 runs in the last 12 overs," he questioned.

Bari said Pakistan batsmen should rotate the strike to take singles to keep the scoreboard moving.

"This is highly disappointing scenario as our batsmen and bowlers are repeating mistakes after mistakes," Pakistan's most successful gloveman with 201 catches and 27 stumping, said.

"Our bowlers bowled badly in the death overs in the first two ODIs which raised question mark over their ability," he said.

"Our players are not grabbing the opportunities when needed instead they are throwing them away," he said.

"Pakistan team was not at all utilizing the batting and bowling powerplays which is very important in this era," he pointed out.

He said players must learn quickly otherwise Pakistan is heading nowhere in their preparations for 2015 World Cup.

He recalled that Pakistan's cautious approach cost the Test series 2-0.

"Despite stunning Sri Lanka in the first one-dayer, they were outplayed in the second ODI after getting good stand between Ahmed Shahzad and Hafeez," he added.

He said unorthodox batsmen like Sohaib Maqsood and Fawad Alam should upfront instead sending them down.

He said Pakistan had badly suffered in ICC World Twenty20 in Bangladesh when they were thrashed by West Indies after our bowler's thrashing by the West Indies batsmen and India.

Wasim Bari said the inclusion of wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed would have made the difference in the One-day series.

"It was big mistakes by the touring selection committee not retaining Sarfraz for ODI series and they played the price for that blunder," Wasim Bari a veteran 81 Test matches and 51 ODI, remarked.
