imageISLAMABAD: Ulema and religious scholars from different schools of thoughts Saturday criticized chiefs of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for holding marches and staging sit-ins to press for unconstitutional demands.

They were of the view that the entire nation and system have been made hostage by the two parties, besides national economy was being affected due to the prevailing situation.

Talking to Pakistan Television(PTV), Custodian of Shrine Hazrat Sultan Bahu (RA) Sahibzada Sultan Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Qadri outrightly rejected the civil disobedience call given by PTI and said the economic activities had stopped because of the steps taken by PAT and PTI.

He said Islamic norms are being violated by holding mixed gatherings of males and females on the Constitution Avenue in the name of sit-ins where most of the time was spent in dances.

"Whatsoever is going on, it is neither in favour of the country nor any individual," he added.

Nazim-e-Ala Jamiat Ahle Hadith Punjab Maulana Sanaullah Bhatti said apparently Tahirul Qadri was following a foreign agenda to destabilize the country, terming sit-ins against the national interests.

He also voiced objection over mixed gatherings of males and females.

Secretary General Wafaq-ul-Madaris Al-Arabia Muhammad Hanif Jalandhari expressed amazement that those who had been condemning all forms of extremism, are now holding protests and have made the entire nation and system hostage.

He said holding protest was the right of every one but it should be within legal, constitutional and democratic parameters.
