imagePESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak visited Galiyat areas, inspected the anti-encroachment drive in various bazaars and expressed satisfaction on vacating 107 kanals encroached and 25 kanals grabed lands there.

He directed to complete the repair works after removal of encroachments and metal the 46 feet expanded roads within 15-20 days so that the locals and tourists could see a visible change and beautification in the current summer season.

According to a handout issued here on Monday, the Chief Minister lauded the cooperation of local shopkeepers and general people in voluntarily removing the encroachments and said such a spirit of sacrifice always formed successful and healthy nations.

Earlier on arrival there, the chief minister was enthusiastically received by locals, tourists and even by the school children. They said indiscriminately removal of encroachments and starting this drive from encroached lands of influential's was a matter of satisfaction for all of them.

Pervez Khattak said Rs 1 billion has already been set aside for the beautification and development of Galyat after removal of encroachments.

Later, addressing a press conference at KP House Nathiagali, he said that the provincial government vacated hundreds-kanals land worth billions of rupees from illegal occupants in Galiyat.

Provincial Sports Minister Amjad Afridi, Chairman DDAC Abbottabad Sardar Muhammad Idrees, Special Assistant to CM Akbar Ayub, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Secretaries of Local Government, C&W, Information and Culture, Hazara Commissioner Abid Ali Khan, DIG Akhbar Hayat Khan, D.C Abbottabd Matiullah, other officials of district administration and heads of different departments were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister said that government was taking keen interest in promotion of tourism in KP. He said that his government carried out a successful drive against encroachments in the entire Galiyat. Nobody was spared during the drive and action was taken against all encroachers, he added.

KP government had chalked out a comprehensive master plan for Galiyat. In future, every building would be constructed according to the master plan, he added.

He claimed that tourists were visiting these picturesque hills stations area in a large number after widening of roads and providing other facilities to them.

Similarly, massive free plantation would continued for maintaining the beauty of these hill stations, he added. He said that the anti-encroachment drive was extended to the entire province including his hometown Nowshera.

The Chief Minister directed Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) to demolish all those extra storey buildings and hotels, which were constructed in violation of the bylaws.

He said that government would set up two emergency response centres and install solar streetlights in Galiyat.

He said that picnic spots would also be development in Thandiyani and new cabins would be allotted to those unemployed people, who were directly affected by the anti-encroachment drive.

Pervez Khattak said that misuse of rest houses in the province especially at touristic spots would not be allowed at any cost. Any officer, who wanted to utilize the government rest houses, would have to pay for it, he added.
