ISLAMABAD: The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has started preparation for Ramazan Package 2014 to provide subsidized items to the people during Holy month of Ramazan.
"During the month of Ramazan, to provide subsidized items to the people especially low income segment of the society, recommendations regarding determining the prices of necessary items, availability of stock and supply are being prepared by the USC", said Wajid Khan Swati, Spokesman of the USC while talking to APP here on Tuesday.
He said under the Ramazan Package, over 500 items including wheat flour, edible oil, ghee, pulses, gram flour, tea, beverages etc would be provided on reduced rates.
He said the prices of branded items would also be reduced by the USC from its own resources to provide relief for poor of the country during the month.
Currently there are about 6145 USC outlets across the country and the USC has a plane to open at least one store in a union council so that maximum number of people may benefit from the subsidy provided by the federal government.
It may be mentioned here that the federal government has approved a subsidy of Rs. 2 billion for Ramazan Package, 2014.
