Shipping activity at Port Qasim
KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the Port Qasim where four ships carrying containers, furnace oil and edible oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, FOTCO Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday, June 12.
Meanwhile three more ships scheduled to offload diesel oil, edible oil and chemicals also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last 24 hours.
Berth occupancy was maintained at 84% at the Port on Sunday where a total of ten ships namely M.V Rio Eider, Maersk Idaho, Alexi-I, Abdul, Zulal-N, Irini, Nahide-M, Fairchem Steed, Fair Spirit and M.V, M.T Berthea are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, wheat, chemicals, furnace oil and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the Port where a cargo volume of 150595 tonnes, comprising 117791 tonnes imports and 32804 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 1685 containers (TEUs) was handled at the Port during last 48 hours.
M.V Maersk Idahc and M.V Rio Elder sailed out to sea on Monday morning while M.V Fairchem Steed, M.V Berthea and Zulal-N will sail later today.
Two ships M.V Golden Ambrosia and M.V Argent Eye Bright are expected to take berths at EVTL and LCT Terminals respectively on Monday, June 13.
