imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the authorities concerned to work for constitution of Petroleum Social Development Committees (PSDC) to ensure that collected fund from petroleum recourse are properly utilized for the development of the backward areas.

This he directed while presiding over a meeting regarding constitution of PSDC here on Thursday.

The Advisor to CM for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Secretary Sajjad Salim Hotyana, Secretary to CM Sindh Rai Sikandar, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput and others attended the meeting.

He said that those funds supposed to be utilized for the development of lesser developed areas with preference to those areas where such resources are available.

He said that in order to distribute the fund in legal ways and utilize in transparent manner, the oversee committees comprising public representatives of the area and other stakeholder is essential.

He said Sindh was rich with natural recourse and present government wants to trickle down the benefit of these recourse up to grassroots level.

The government has earmarked annual development outlay of Rs 165 billion and Rs 20 billion for the Development Schemes of Districts for ADP 2013-14 besides, a big chunk of amount was also being utilized for the execution of the development schemes recommended by public representations at their respective areas, he added.

He directed the officers to constitute District Development Committees not only to expedite the pace of development work but to ensure transparent utilization of development fund.

The chief minister said that the energy was lifeline for development and prosperity of the people.

He said that keeping in view its importance and present energy crisis, Sindh Government is striving hard to generate energy from indigenous resources like coal.

He said that big investment is being made on the Thar coal power projects and directed the authorities concerned to work for formation of Evolution Committee for Thar coal power project for examining and evaluating its all reports, data and verifying the works being made by firms and submit their recommendations for early notification.
