KARACHI: Former Test batsman Basit Ali inspected the facilities at the National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Monday ahead of launching training and coaching plans for young cricketers.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Basit Ali as the Cricket Consultant for Zone-I.
The Zone-I consist Karachi, Hyderabad, Dera Murad Jamali and Larkana regions.
Basit with Senior Manager National Stadium Muhammad Arshad visited gymnasium, nets and academy building to finalise preparations for his assignment.
"My main aim and objective is to prepare quality young cricketers from my Zone," Basit, who played 19 Tests and 50 ODIs for Pakistan, remarked.
Basit will also be responsible for Regional Cricket Academies programmes, talent hunt schemes, monitoring Club/school cricket in consultation with respective Regional Presidents.
Dashing batsman of his day, Basit Ali, who is also chief coach of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) just returned from Multan after side won the Pakistan premier departmental event - President's Trophy on Saturday.
Basit will also prepare various development programmes/ annual calendar for respective regional teams at first class, U-19 and U-16 level.
