NEW YORK: US stock markets opened mixed Monday, clouded by poor economic data and five straight losing weeks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 25.28 (0.21 percent) at 12,125.98 in the opening minutes of trade.
The tech-focused Nasdaq added 2.21 (0.08 percent) to 1,298.86, while the broad-based S&P 500 lost 1.30 (0.1 percent) to 1,298.86.
"Global economic uncertainty, courtesy of signs of slowing activity, exacerbated by Friday's dismal US labor report, has hampered sentiment recently, leading to the downward pressure on the equity markets and bond yields," Charles Schwab analysts said in a client note.
