77 shopkeepers fined for violating price list

KARACHI: As many as 77 shopkeepers were challaned and a fine of Rs 98000 was imposed for overcharging in violation to the price list of essential commodities.

The shopkeepers were challaned by the divisional and district administrations, on the directives of Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi during a crackdown against violators of price lists of daily commodities, said a statement on Tuesday.

It said 29 milk sellers, seven food item grocers and 35 chicken retailers, two meat merchants, two vegetable sellers and two fruits retailers were challaned for violating price list.

The Commissioner Karachi said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue with the view to provide maximum relief to the masses.
