KARACHI: As many as 110 shopkeepers were challaned and a fine of Rs 125,400 were imposed for overcharging in violation of the price list of essential commodities.
The shopkeepers were challaned by the assistant commissioners of sub-divisions, deputy commissioners of five districts of the city, on the directives of Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqi during the crackdown against violators of price lists of daily commodities, said a statement on Friday.
It said 29 milk sellers, 15 fruits vendors, 39 vegetable merchants, eight food items grocers, 17 chicken sellers and two flour sellers were challaned for violating price list.
The Commissioner Karachi said that the crackdown against profiteers will continue, till the time the sale of essential items is not ensured in accordance with the price list.
