ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Finance while expressing his dismay over delay directed that the development work of Hazrat Bari Imam Shrine should be accelerated and completed soon.
The directions were given by the minister while chairing a high level meeting of the newly reconstituted committee on Bari Imam.
He said that Sufi Saints are source of guidance and spiritual enlightenment for all Muslims. Pakistan is fortunate enough to have many saints on its soil.
Hazrat Bari Imam is revered for his contribution in spread of Islam and spiritual uplift of Muslims, he added.
He further directed that the Phase-I of the development work should be completed at the earliest while the work on Phase-II should also be started without further delay.
It should be ensured that after construction all facilities are available to the pilgrims, the Finance Minister further directed.
Syed Mohammad Ali Mazhar, Architect of Barri Imam Shrine Project briefed the meeting about the construction of new building for Hazrat Bari Imam Shrine in detail.
The meeting was informed that the construction work for Hazrat Bari Imam Shrine was started in 2008 but has not been completed until now.
The Minister who is also the Head of the Barri Imam Committee constituted two sub committees, one for supervision of the construction and the other to look after the environment and other issues relating to the Shrine.
Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and members of the Committee attended the meeting.
